Abstract:

The goal of the current study is to better understand the role that social media plays in raising methomania, or alcohol dependence, particularly among young people in India through deceptive and substitute marketing strategies. In India alcoholism has been rampantly increasing among the early age groups which is certainly detrimental for wellbeing of society and the country. Over the years, various researchers have tried to access direct and indirect impact of social media in increasing methomania among the masses and this present study is an addition to the pertinent pool of literature, trying to find the cause for the burgeoning menace of alcoholism among the adolescents.
