Abstract:

Commerce changes the fate and genius of nations – said Thomas Gray. Without commerce, there is no economy. NEP-2020 was announced based on the recommendations of an expert committee headed by Dr. Kasturirangan, former Chairman of the ISRO. The basic aim and objective of NEP-2020 are to make education universally accessible from primary to secondary level. It seeks to foster the development ofcreative possibilities, critical skills, quality education and diversity in the educational system. It also emphasizes Vocationalization, Multidisciplinary Systems, Entrepreneurship Development and Digital Revolution. In the era of liberalization, globalization and new emerging trends in technology have made the world highly competitive. In order to survive in such competition, students should be well-trained to enterthe business world. This paper studies the challenges and suggests measures to revise the commerce education curriculum with outcome-based education so the future generation adapts to forthcoming changes in the Indian Economy. The objective of the paper is to suggest measuresthat will ensure practical exposure in the financial sectors, the Indianization of Commerce Education, linkage with the Job markets, the establishment of infrastructure for innovation, critical thinking, and, more importantly, the creation of future commerce teachers. NEP – should not just be National Education Policy; it should be Nurture, Enhance to Progress.
