Abstract:

The study aims to discuss some of the challenges faced by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) related to marketing strategies, accounting records, and sustainability practices, as well as to reveal the role of these three aspects in developing SME business. This study's methodology employs a literature review, with prior research serving as the main source of information. SMEs are at the edge of many country's economies. SME's bankruptcy could raise the unemployment rate and poverty in the countries. On the contrary, if the SMEs can "scale up" or develop their enterprise, it will have a positive impact on the country's economy, but various issues prevent these SMEs from scaling up, including marketing strategies, accounting records, and sustainability practices. These three issues play an important role in the development of SME business. It is hoped that this study can provide identified the problems and roles of these three aspects and provide guidance for SMEs in developing their business.
