Eki Dwi Maulana, Sudrajati Ratnaningtyas. "Optimizing Efficiency and Sustainability: A Comprehensive Study of The Fishing Industry’s Supply Chain for Global Export Markets (Case Study PT Bintang Tirta Semesta)" International Research Journal of Economics and Management Studies, Vol. 3, No. 1, pp. 436-452, 2024.
This research delves into the intricacies of the supply chain within PT Bintang Tirta Semesta, focusing on the exportation of skipjack tuna to the Philippines. The primary objectives are to identify the current status of quality, quantity, and continuity within the supply chain, analyze challenges in these aspects, and develop plans for enhancing efficiency. The multifaceted data collection process employs qualitative methods, specifically interviews, observation, and document and record review, utilizing purposeful sampling to identify information-rich cases. Qualitative data were collected through indepth interviews, observation of supply chain processes, and review of relevant documents. Grounded theory serves as the theoretical underpinning for this approach, facilitating the emergence of new insights and understandings. Key stakeholders, including fishermen, processors, and company management, provided valuable perspectives on challenges and opportunities related to quality, quantity, and continuity. Data analysis involves qualitative data analysis (QDA). This systematic process interprets non-numerical data to uncover underlying meanings, patterns, and themes. Thematic analysis, within the context of supply chain management, quality, quantity, and continuity, serves to identify key challenges and opportunities. The flexible, iterative nature of QDA accommodates the emergent nature of qualitative data. The study contributes to the broader understanding of supply chain management, emphasizing the importance of total quality management in addressing challenges and enhancing efficiency. By addressing the specific nuances within the skipjack tuna supply chain, this research aims to provide actionable recommendations for PT Bintang Tirta Semesta and contribute to the global discourse on optimizing efficiency and sustainability in the fishing industry’s supply chain for international markets.
