An important part of Jammu and Kashmir’s economy is horticulture. Because of the state’s favourable agroclimatic conditions, temperate horticulture—which is characterised by an increasing dominance of apple cultivation is rapidly growing. An assessment of the long-term trends in the productivity and geographic growth of apple farming in the state has been attempted in the current study. Higher profitability can be the reason for the substantial rise in the area and output of apple farming. In India, Jammu and Kashmir is renowned for producing apples for horticulture. Apple production was 1680 metric tonnes in 2010–2011 and 1901.85 metric tonnes in 2021–2022. Within Jammu & Kashmir there are obvious indications of stagnation in the apple yield in the year 2012-2022. In Baramulla, the production in the year 2010-2011 was 671.5 MetricTons, and in the year 2021-2022 was 482.2. To increase this sector’s efficiency, government policy involvement and the advancement of pre-and post-harvest technologies are therefore important.
