"Export Diversification and Economic Growth in the CEMAC Zone: An Analysis of Causality Tests" International Research Journal of Economics and Management Studies, Vol. 4, No. 2, pp. 18-24, 2025.
The objective of this study is to verify the direction of causality between the diversification of exports and the economic growth of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC). Johansen cointegration and Granger causality tests have been highlighted. The results show that the variables are cointegrated and have a long-term relationship between them. The relationship between export diversification and economic growth in CEMAC is reciprocal. In the case of countries taken individually, the same results are obtained except for the case of Gabon, which presents a one-way relationship between diversification and economic growth. It is important for CEMAC to continue diversifying its exports to show greater economic resilience in the face of severe macroeconomic shocks.
