Manuel Angel Mari-Mendoza, Richard Nicholas Meza-Ortiz. "Lean Construction Model for Supply and Planning Management in a Construction SME: A Case Study in Peru" International Research Journal of Economics and Management Studies, Vol. 4, No. 4, pp. 187-197, 2025.
This study addressed operational inefficiencies in procurement and planning processes within medium-sized construction companies dedicated to land development and building construction in Peru. Despite their relevance in the sector, these companies exhibit limited adoption of Lean Construction methodologies, creating a gap in the literature regarding effective management practices. The objective of this research was to design and validate a supply and planning model based on Lean Construction principles, integrating Just in Time (JIT), Kanban, and 5S methodologies. A case study approach was applied, and the model was piloted over four months. The results showed a 40.48% reduction in work delivery delays, a 47.23% improvement in the accuracy of quantity and unit price estimations, and a 52.75% decrease in non-compliant materials. These outcomes demonstrate significant efficiency gains. The findings contribute theoretically to Lean Construction implementation in medium-sized enterprises and offer practical implications for improving resource management, supporting competitiveness, and enhancing sustainability in the construction industry.
