Abstract:

This study aims to design an effective raw material inventory planning system to reduce lead time in cabinet assembly production and minimize storage costs at CV Bengkel Furniture through the implementation of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and appropriate lot sizing techniques. Employing a quantitative descriptive case study design, the research utilized cabinet demand data from January to December 2022. Data processing included the preparation of the Inventory Master File (IMF), Bill of Materials (BOM), and Master Production Schedule (MPS). MRP calculations were performed using POM for QM software, comparing four lot sizing techniques: Lot-for-Lot (LFL), Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), Period Order Quantity (POQ), and Part Period Balancing (PPB). Results showed that the POQ method yielded the lowest total inventory cost of Rp 724,278, making it the most optimal strategy for procuring blockboard, plywood, drawer rails, and hinges. The study concludes that MRP combined with the POQ technique can effectively optimize raw material procurement, reduce production lead time, minimize storage costs, and improve operational efficiency in furniture manufacturing SMEs such as CV Bengkel Furniture.
